There are so many ways to advocate for your loved one with Down Syndrome. I (try to) keep my blog up to date, I attend training sessions to learn more about advocating for people with disabilities, I reach out to other parents who have children with disabilities. Last year I did a presentation for Lila's school on World Down Syndrome day and the response was amazing. I write letters to the parents in Lila's class introducing Lila and giving them some facts about Down Syndrome along with answers to questions they may be getting from their own children as they get to know Lila.
I am blessed to have the privilege of being the Executive Vice Director over at IDSC for Life, an amazing advocacy group for people with Down Syndrome and other disabilities. Check out their website here.
