Look what I can do!

Really, it's look at what my kid can do!

Miss Lila is officially a cutter!  (No,  not that kind of cutter.)  She is using scissors to cut a straight line- and doing a fine job!   This may not be a big deal to some but at our house it's kindof a big deal.  About a year ago, Lila's hands were so small that she had to use adaptive scissors.  3 weeks ago, Lila wasn't able to cut a straight line.  Or maybe she was able, she just didn't want to.  She seemed to be fatiguing very easily and would just lay her head down and say she was too tired to cut.  Our OT gave us "cutting" homework and asked us to put a reward system in place.  If Lila wanted to watch a movie or have one of us read a favorite book to her, she would have to practice cutting first.  We started doing that and guess what?  It worked!   Her OT was thrilled with her progress yesterday.  We have now moved to cutting curves instead of straight lines.  Woot!

Guess who's watching Dino Dan right now?

  4. Way to cut, Lila! Aidan is still using adaptive scissors - we'll try the "pay me with cutting if you want Sesame Street" routine and see what happens :o)

  5. Yay Lila! This is awesome. We have adaptive scissors, but Goldie still hates anything crafty.
